Sleep Apnea

How Do You Sleep?

Over 25% of adults suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and 90% of those don't know they have it. At Dental Wellness, we have non-invasive and non-surgical treatment for those who need it.

Snoring can be a sign of sleep apnea.  If you or your bed partner  snore, you could be at risk for this serious sleep disorder.

Morning Headaches, Depression, Irritability

Waking up during the night so that your body can get enough oxygen  is dangerous to your overall health. Make an appointment to discuss and diagnose sleep apnea.

It IS possible to feel awake, alert, and oriented all day long. Sleep apnea not only causes sleep deprivation, but  it does not allow your body recover and properly restart.

Lack of oxygen at night is known to cause morning headaches, irritability, depression, and mood changes. If you're not sleeping, you're not YOU!

What is Sleep Apnea?

Obstructive  sleep apnea is the most common form of sleep apnea. It is a disorder where the upper airway collapses during sleep and causes pauses in breathing. During these pauses, or apneas, airflow stops.  People stop breathing anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes, and typically happen hundreds of times throughout the night.  That means that most people with sleep apnea spend about 3 hours a night not breathing.

It is the transition from deep to light sleep that tells your body, "It's time to wake up!" These "waking" events are dangerous and detrimental to your normal body function. You are left unrested and unable to function normally.

Dr. Lubchansky and her team custom make oral appliances that move your lower jaw into an optimal position so that your airway remains open all night.

They use the latest technology to measure each section of your upper airway to identify where the blockage occurs, and how to treat it.  Unlike CPAP machines, these appliances do not use electric or water. They are portable, small, have no tubes attached, and allow you to move freely throughout the night.
